Using the PEERS® for Young Adults Social Skills curriculum, we facilitate small groups that focus on building relationships.
PEERS® for Young Adults is a 16-week evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated young adults between 20-38 years of age who are interested in learning skills to make and keep friends and develop romantic relationships. This internationally acclaimed program was originally developed at UCLA by PEERS® Clinic Founding Director, Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson. During each group session, young adults are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills. PEERS® may be appropriate for young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression or other social and behavioral disorders, or anyone who wants to understand the basics of making and sustaining adult relationships..
Participants must be independently motivated to participate in this course. Participants may choose to attend each session with a social coach (participant-chosen relative or non-relative); having a social coach is preferred but not required. The participant and social coach will work together to generalize the skills learned each week. PEERS® was featured on the Netflix show, Love on the Spectrum.
Young Adults will learn about:
• Conversational Skills
• Appropriate Use of Humor
• Electronic Communication
• Handling Direct and Indirect Bullying
• Handling Arguments & Disagreements
• Organizing Get-Togethers with Friends
• Dating Skills
• Strategies for Handling Sexual Pressure
Virtual Option (15-week traditional PEERS® course) :
Our next online Young Adult PEERS® group will be January - April 2025. It is a 15-week program for 75 minutes per session. We will meet virtually on Tuesday evenings. This entire course is offered for $1200 ($80/session); includes social coach participation (encouraged but not required). Partial enrollment is not offered, as you must sign up for the course in its entirety. Applications being accepted now.
Dating+ Bootcamps (2 days; in-person and virtual options):
We offer an hybrid virtual/in-person PEERS® Bootcamp in the Greater Denver area. This intensive bootcamp is held on on two separate weekend days for 5-6 hours each. The 2-day bootcamp covers topics from the traditional 15-week course plus a significant amount of current, relevant dating-specific information. We also offer participants three one-on-one 30 minute sessions to review concepts/information after the bootcamp concludes (to be used within 12 months of the conclusion of the bootcamp).
Due to the advanced pacing of this bootcamp, individuals should be at least 21 years old with a more independent lifestyle to be able to apply life experiences and process a large amount of information in a short amount of time. This group is limited to four participants to ensure maximum engagement. Our next bootcamps are September 7 & 21, 2024 and October 26 & November 9, 2024. A Sunday bootcamp may be an option if needed. Applications for fall courses are being accepted now.
4-week Dating+ Intensive Group (virtual):
Our virtual 4-week Intensive covers all topics from the Dating Bootcamps course in a fast-paced, condensed format. Participants will meet online for each 2-hour session. Participants will need to attend all sessions in full and be able to learn a lot of information in a short amount of time. This group is limited to four participants to ensure maximum engagement. Our next Intensive Group will take place on Tuesdays in September 2024 from 6-8pm MST. Applications being accepted now.
We also offer 1:1 and smaller PEERS® group formats.
